Boats Are a Better Investment Than Ever Before!

The pandemic really took its toll, but it also taught us to stop and smell the roses, taking more time out to enjoy life. This new mindset has made boating a better investment than ever before, and certain types of boats are popular for a variety of reasons.

For example, pontoons – offering ample deck space and affordability – are always a favorite. They are big enough to transport a lot of guests, they offer plenty of storage and whether you plan an epic cocktail party of a day filled with water sports, a pontoon is certainly an excellent boat to choose. Center consoles, ideal for anglers and providing a respite from the hot summer sun, are also very popular here in Florida. There are also bowriders, which can be trailered, making them another versatile boating option, cabin cruisers and less expensive cuddy cabins for boaters who prefer extended stays on the water and speedboats to satisfy those with a need for speed.

For all boats, there are certain things which can affect their resale value. One of the most important is the type of boat you choose. Let’s face it, you’re going to have trouble selling an aluminum pilot boat here in Florida, and it only makes sense that the more popular a boat is, the larger your target market.

However, boat maintenance can be just as important because a poorly maintained popular model boat will be harder to sell than a less popular boat that is well-maintained. If the exterior of your boat is dirty, potential buyers will tend to think that your engine also lacked adequate attention.

You also want to keep in mind that custom and high dollar extras and fancy gadgets usually don’t pay off when it is time to sell. The rule of thumb here is, if you want them, certainly get them. Just remember that they won’t always fetch what you paid.
