NEW Smyrna Beach is aptly named because, aside from its quaint seaside charm, it offers some uber-cool NEW (and annual) events!
January was simply bursting with talented artists and culinary delights, as the New Smyrna Beach Festival of the Arts showcased the creations of over 200 amazing artists and then the area’s best chowder chefs lined both sides of Flagler Avenue to compete in the legendary NSB Chowder Cook-off!
February raised the stakes with the NSB Art Fiesta and more than 250 artisans and crafters, food vendors and live entertainment. Then, when March rolled around, New Smyrna Beach hosted a Mardi Gras party and parade with countless revelers in honor of Fat Tuesday.
Now that it is May, soulful sounds will fill the air for four melodious days during the New Smyrna Beach Blues Festival…and then summer has its fun! New Smyrna Beach’s Annual Shrimp and Seafood Festival in August promises great seafood from Volusia’s best restaurants and live entertainment throughout the day.
Fall is time for the Halloween Parade and Costume Contest in October and the spectacular Kite Festival on the beach in November. November is actually extra special this year because the NSB Balloon and Sky Festival is back in town and bigger than ever, promising three full days of thrilling air shows and displays. Then check out the Turkey Run around Thanksgiving. It is America’s largest classic car show!
In December, New Smyrna Beach will light up Flagler Avenue with a beautiful Christmas light display and there are Christmas parades by land and sea. Then, we will ring in the New Year with a magnificent fireworks display.
