Many of us love cutting a wake while we cruise along Florida’s gorgeous waterways in a big boat and the zip of the lines that only deep sea fishing can provide, but don’t be too quick to dismiss the joys of owning a smaller boat. Bigger can certainly be better, but not always!
Big boats don’t afford us the opportunity of pulling up on one of Florida’s many islands, like Disappearing Island, where you can pull up with a pontoon to picnic, toss a football on the sand, meet up with some friends or just lounge around and catch some rays.
And while huge sportfishers and yachts can be great fun to fish on, there are some hard to get to fishing holes, which are simply impossible to reach with a big boat. Smaller boats, like center consoles or a runabout can put you right on those fish that hide out in all those little nooks and crannies!
Seaside restaurant hopping (in fact, pulling up and tying off anywhere) is also a breeze when you have a smaller boat. Parking a problem on the weekend? Not so much with a little boat!
With a smaller boat, you can also do many of the things you get to do with a bigger boat, like watching the sun set while you are out on the water, taking a leisurely ride down the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway and even enjoying the fireworks from an excellent vantage point on your boat! Plus, a smaller boat is less to wash, less to store, easier on fuel and easier to maneuver.
