We’re lucky here in Florida because, besides the fact that the weather is nice for boating pretty much year-round, there are so many great marinas and places to stop along our majestic coastline. And since we don’t have to travel far from the shoreline to reach our destination of choice, we can navigate virtually any size boat there!
We’re just a hop, skip and jump from Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, St. Augustine and so much more, so pack your bag and get ready for some fun.
Plus, if you don’t have the time for an overnight trip, day trips by boat are another extraordinary way to spend your vacation. Whether you are the wildlife excursion type, the exploration type or the “let’s grab lunch at our favorite beachside bar” type, the world is your oyster here in Florida.
Then, for the active adventurers, there’s always watersports! A day spent tubing or water skiing is definitely a day you can enjoy.
If you’re vacationing as a couple, you might want to take a scenic cruise down the gorgeous Intracoastal Waterway. It’s romantic and if you bring along some sustenance like wine and brie or maybe some brews and left over fried chicken (Just covering the bases.), it is satisfying in all sorts of ways!
By the way, you may have noticed that we are surrounded by water on three sides here in New Smyrna Beach. If you haven’t, heads-up! The local river, lagoon, inshore and offshore fishing are a dream. So, maybe head to Indian River, which offers some of Florida’s best fishing, and snag a photo-worthy catch or anchor up at daybreak for some offshore fun in search of anything from grouper to mahi mahi. Fish the flats for snook, the mangroves for tarpon…Hmm, you might need more than one day.
