We’re a world full of people of varying tastes. While some folks picture a winter wonderland filled with snow, big puffy coats, mittens, scarves and cheeks flushed pink from the cold; here in Volusia County, we prefer our winters ice and snow-free with weather so temperate that you may still choose to boat or swim in your pool…and certainly with enough sun shining in our robin’s egg blue skies to enjoy a host of activities offered in and around this lovely coastal area.
Volusia County, Florida is always good for scenic boat rides along the Intracoastal Waterway and for hikes through our numerous nature parks where there is an abundance of wildlife prime for watching. Catch a launch at Kennedy Space Center or simply dig your toes in the warm sand on one of our beautiful beaches. Winter is just another day in paradise when you’re in Volusia County.
Then there are the holidays, brimming with festivities including the Daytona International Speedway’s Magic of Lights annual drive through display, our Christmas parades by land and by sea, as well as plenty of Santa sightings and massive parties that ring in the New Year with gusto on Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach and Main Street in Daytona Beach.
If you prefer your activities indoors, take in a live presentation of A Christmas Carol at New Smyrna’s Little Theatre or visit one of our history, science or art museums. Enjoy the Christmas Car Show or Craft Fair or get tickets to a live concert or event at the Volusia County Fairgrounds & Expo Center.
It’s a magical time of year!
